Movie Mondays!


It’s a good movie but you won’t find it uplifting. A story about a boy who is a bit of a lost soul, angry with his parents, he relinquishes his possessions and sets off on a journey of discovery leaving his family and the life he knew behind. Over the course of his journeys, he makes connections with many but even though he does he cannot let go of his anger until it is far too late. Very similar in tone to Penn’s earlier directorial effort, The Crossing Guard, Into the Wild is a quiet movie that speaks to deep emotional issues. It has strong performances, wonderful cinematography and manages to tell a story without editorializing on its subject. Look for Hal Holbrook making a strong performance in the latter part of the film. An adult movie dealing with adult topics it may not appeal to all.
